SC-300: Identity & Access Administrator

SC-300: Identity & Acces Administrator

A certification to refresh my knowledge and prepare me for SC-100.

About the Certification

The Microsoft identity and access administrator designs, implements and operates an organization’s identity and access management systems using Azure Active Directory (Azure AD). They configure and manage the authentication and authorization of identities for users, devices, Azure resources, and applications.

The identity and access administrator provides all users with seamless experiences and self-service management capabilities. They ensure that identity is verified explicitly to support Zero Trust principles. They automate the management of Azure AD by using PowerShell and analyse events using Kusto Query Language (KQL). They are also responsible for troubleshooting, monitoring, and reporting for the identity and access environment.

Why did i pursue this Certification

In my case, this certification was more about fine-polishing my knowledge regarding Identity and access to ensure that I was prepared for SC-100.

Expectation vs. Reality

My general thought was that it would be an easy, fast exam, but to be honest, it required more than I expected. There were many new governance features based on Microsoft 365 E5 - Compliance and a lot regarding inheritance of rights of the various group types, etc. So, it was more worth it than I thought.

Reflecting back: What Mattered Most

The most interesting area for me was, without a doubt, Identity Governance, and I would like to explore many of the different Microsoft E5 Compliance areas more in-depth.

The Most Helpful Resources

I used Microsoft Learn + my lab environment for this certification because there was a lot of inheritance and different types of groups and users. I also needed to validate different use case scenarios.
